Why would anyone want to start a blog?  I’ve been asking myself that for years now.  Who has the time to keep up with one more social media thing?!  Certainly not me.

Well, things change and I finally feel like I have both the time and attention that I can devote to something special.

With that being said, I have decided to name my blog “For Such A Time As This.” It is a direct reference to Esther 4:14 when Queen Esther is challenged by her Uncle Mordecai to stand up to the evil that has overtaken their land. He reminds her that it is quite possible that the ONLY reason she was elevated to this level of power at this time in history in this particular land was so that she could do something significant — to save her people from slaughter at the hands of the evil Haman.

This book of the Bible is probably my favorite for several reasons…

• Not once is God’s name mentioned, yet He is clearly present throughout.
• God places Esther where He wants her to be in order to accomplish His purposes in His timeframe.
• A young woman rises to significance, yet humbly and bravely chooses her faith and family over power.
• Living out God’s plan and will for our lives is never easy and is often met with opposition.
• Good triumphs over evil.

I truly believe that God has given each of us a purpose in this life. Whether we know what it is at this point or not, we have an obligation to spend our lives striving to reach for that purpose.  God is in charge.  And I believe that I have been given the opportunities that I have “for such a time as this.”
